Our Coaches

Patricia Hollowell
Coach Hollowell has been coaching basketball for over 20 years in the DMV area.  She is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Girls Basketball program at Sherwood High School in Olney, MD.  As a former two sport collegiate athlete, Coach Hollowell understands what it takes to perform at a high level and enjoys encouraging her athletes to keep perspective, know who they are and play for something bigger than themselves.  She is a certified Sportsmetrics trainer specializing in performance enhancement and the prevention of major knee injuries as well as a certified Mental Game Instructor through the International Mental Game Coaching Association.  Coach Hollowell also serves as the Collegiate Director for the University of Maryland Fellowship of Christian Athletes and sees the opportunity to invest in the lives of student athletes as a chance to share God's love and inspire the next generation to live for Christ.

M. Elaine Genies
Coach E has been coaching youth girls’ and boys’ basketball for more than 20 years for the City of Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Recreation Department, and the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) of Frederick Maryland. As a former Gaithersburg high school basketball player, she learned the importance of being a team player and putting forth her best effort on and off the court. A key to a successful basketball career is showing up ready to work. Her goal is to help advance the development of student athletes by leveraging the values that have sustained her in her personal growth. Her greatest achievement was starting her own business and being nominated for a Gaithersburg Character count award. The nomination was submitted by her youngest son who wrote about how she exhibited the six pillars of character - trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.  Although her journey did not continue at the collegiate level (which is what she really wanted), God chose a different path. Today, she embraces her role as a business owner, mother, grandmother, and coach.  She says she would not change anything and will continue to follow the path God has laid in front of her.

Brian Roelofs

Coach Roelofs has been coaching elementary and middle school basketball for 8 years in the DMV area. This year he coached the Washington Christian Academy boys 7th-8th grade team in Olney and the St. Andrew Apostle girls CYO 10U team in Silver Spring. During his playing days, Coach Roelofs played in the Division III Final Four as a forward for Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI on a team that finished second in the nation and participated in March Madness several other years. As a player, he loved to do the less glamorous aspects of basketball that helped his teams win - rebounding, team defense, and hustle. As a coach, he loves to see the light bulb that goes on when players understand the concepts that make them a better basketball player - whether on defense, offense, at an individual skill, or most importantly, as a teammate. Coach Roelofs believes the principles and foundations found in Christian life apply well to athletics and performing at an athlete's highest level with true sportsmanship, sacrifice and character.
